Third Basque Tournament of Schmid TVG 2000
On Tuesday 28 July 2026, Eusko-Retro Association organized the 3rd Basque Tournament of Schmid TVG 2000. It was the third time we played Schmid and again we enjoyed it although we had short time to play it. It was the last console of that retro afternoon. After playing TRS-80, NES, Master System and a tournament of PES 6 in the PS2 we connected the oldest console of the afternoon: the Schmid TVG 2000. That day we met at Egoitz's house because he has an ankle injury. We gathered 5 players: Mikel, Egoitz, Dani, Joseba Fernández and Jon.
We played Cat Trax, Jump Bug and Escape. First we started with Escape (we played 2 minutes each player). The character we control must shoot to eliminate the monsters while an expanding bomb is about to explode, and be careful not to get caught in its blast. Then we chose Jump Bug, a fun game. Our car jumps and we have to collect money from stage to stage before falling into a skull and having our car destroyed. Finally, we played Cat Trax (until our second life lost), game very similar to the legendary Pac-Man from Atari. The objective is to get through the white dots before we are captured by the enemies that come for us.
This fast tournament was won by Egoitz with some luck. The rest did well. The next time I hope to have more time to play more games, with more players, and for longer periods of time in each game. Our goal is to organize a new Radofin 1292 tournament in December.
